On 2003 I met Xavi thought a friend of mine. Together we discovered a part of Asia.We started at Istambul for heading to the historical Armenia within turkish borders (nowadays Kurdistan) where we climbed Suphan Daga (4.052m), and from there to climb Mt Ararat (5.137m) that we climbed without support of any porter , donkey or cooker. We carried all our stuff. We did the ascent in three days and the the we summited we reach down the town.
From there we continued to Armenia where I spent lots of time shoppng carpets.
From here, alone (Xavi went back to work) I continued to Iran where I did some more climbing, including Damavand (5671 m) where afeter paying $20 fee, I started the ascent. I joined a grup who were planning to climb it in just one day. Fortunatelly I had good aclimatation from Ararat. We just took a short break in the Base Camp at 4.500m before to head for the summit.
From Iran I took a flight to Uzbekistan with a short visit to Tashkent, its capital. I suffered the expected headache with the police. At the bus station, in five minuts they stoped me twice, and twice more they registered me !!!
After other flight I reached Kyrgyzstan, a small jewell in Central Asia. There, I climbed a couple of peaks, including Ayu Tor (4.250m) and I did several trekkings in the Pamirs and Tien Shan. I rode a horse for first time on myy life to rode trhough mountains visiting kyrgyz nomads on they Yurts.
Well, Up to here my trips around the world, but when I'm at home I don't know to stay there so long. so, I'm crazy for mountain-skiing, where I've ascended the most important Pyrenees summits, and I've also don't some short trips on long week-ends to the Alps where I've been done Chamonix-Zermmat and Oberland routes as well ascens in Monte Rosa Range.
There is still something more .... Since I met Xavi I've also started to practice Athletics. After a brief pss on road races I've turned to mountain ones where I enjoy the best.
Here you have some of my best results:
- Barcelona Marathon (2004): 3h35'
- Ripoll Half Marathon (2004): 1h24'
- Cuita el Sol (mountain, vertical mile): 1h26'
- Matagalls-Montserrat (mountain, 83.5km ): 11h35'
Well, up to here, who I am and what I like. If you want to meet me, my phone number is .... :-) . seriously, If you plan a trip and do you think I could help you, or you are planning to buy some carpets, you know the way ... :-)
See you soon,
ENRIC
