Travelling throught Central Asia has always been a burocratical nightmare. Furthermore if you live in a country without embassies of the countries your planning to visit. Visas, letters of invitations and special permits are required.
We'll try to describe all the costs and additional information related to the burocracy of our trip. Just keep in mind that the information provide comes from us, settled in Barcelona, and we consider it useful for Catalan or Spanish people planning a trip to this countries. If you live somewhere else problably some of the information below will be useless.

  • Uzbekistan: Visa
  • Kirguizstan: Visa
  • Tajikistan: Letter of invitation for the visa, Visa, and GBAO permit (Permit for entering at Pamirs region, 40% of the country).

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Sending expenses are one way ones. In Kirguiz and Uzbek visas expenses for returning the passports are included.
  • UK it is not within Euro region. High bank comission for money transfers.
  • Time: Consider 4 weeks for visa. GBAO permit took about 4 - 5 weeks as well.
  • For Tajikistan LOI and GBAO other option is to contact NGOs working on responsible tourism suc as ACTED.
  • And the most important: Check your emabssies before departing, this countries change a lot from one year to another.
